I'm in love with an Akita.... My family has disowned me...they call him a low down, dirty, dog. They just don't seem to understand...love is blind. He's such a Hunka Hunka burnin' Love. Their Dogophobia has me all knotted up with furballs. His family has disowned him as well. Told him I'm nothing but a p-u-s-s-y and that he is p-u-s-s-y-whipped. LIERS! It's not true. What's a girl to do

Oh cat-rina! Sounds like you've got yourself in a "fuzzy" situation!
Inter-species dating is never easy. It appears best to keep that bit of distance from your families. Find some other couples that give you support. It is obvious to me that you both have a wonderful ability to go beyond your personal prejudices and see what is worthy in each other!
Perhaps then, with time, your families will see that your love extends beyond the external and realize that God has given you a special gift just in different wrapping paper.
If you need a good support group, I can give you the number of a counselor friend of mine...she was asked to leave her flock after she was caught in the pasture with her boss, an australian shepherd. This group also addresses love in the workplace.

If I remember right an Akita testified at the OJ trial. He was a witness for the prosecution, but I fear the jury did not believe him. Lesson from this may be: don't trust Akitas they are unreliable witnesses! lightnsv
